ADOPTION UPDATE

I haven't really said much about our adoption lately due to the fact that we had a situation present itself where we were going to do a domestic adoption and bring home a infant baby girl this month. Well that seemed to vanish on Wednesday January 16th when I talked to our lawyers office. Let me back up and give you the whole story, Mikee and I both found out about this situation through different ways we didn't act on it right away but it seemed to keep coming back to us so we decided to check it out. We did and things were on go, we rushed to get out international homestudy revised by a new social worker (which was great and very helpful) for a domestic adoption right here in SC. I was and still am very excited about the thoughts of bringing home a baby from day one so excited that even though this has fallen through and crushed my heart I still think this could be the best thing for us. Mikee travels alot and I think he was nervous about the bonding issues with older children, he was excited about a infant from day one. I on the other hand had started to get a little nervous of what to do you know its been 9 years almost. Call us CRAZY!!! I have done a little research and lets just say our names are getting on every list I think there is out there. I just contacted a great lawyer who has a agency that has a great placement program and is awesome, this guys dad started the firm years ago when he retired from the FBI. I even went to the home of a lady who has used this firm twice and she should be their poster child for sure. I feel good about it and have already sent in our paper work and you know what everyone wants $$$$$$$$ to proceed to get on their 35 list. This list is where there are 35 families that the birthmothers can choose from. You make a scrapbook of your home and life for them to look at. Which leads me to this question do you think a scrapbook that I hand make or should I go on Snapfish and make a digital one???? I just can't decide which would be better I think they would both take about the same amount of time. I am also in the process of writing a letter to the birthmom for the front of the book I think I have started this thing a hundred times just don't know what I should and shouldn't say. Well that's where we stand on our journey, its been a crazy one but God has a plan for our family I know. There is a precious child or children waiting to come home to our home either here or on the other side of the world. I can't wait to meet our baby and I pray for her or him daily.

I hope you got my email about this... but just wanted to let you know that we're sorry that things fell thru with the local adoption. The right path will present itself but either way we'll be there to cheer you on :)

Hi Cyndi,
I just sent you an email not 15 min. ago.
I'm so sorry that this one didn't work out. She just wasn't the baby that God has in store for you. I am happy that you have found a great attorney. That is the KEY in domestic adoption. It is hard to write the "dear birthmother" letter, all I can say is go from your heart. Please don't hesitate to call or email me if you ever want to talk.

I am so sorry that the adoption fell through. I have not pursued domestic adoption ever but I would think that the birthmother would not care if the scrapbook was digital or hand done as long as the letter to her was handwritten. At least that would be my thinking although I could be completely wrong so ask someone who has done it!

Cyndi,

I am SO sorry that the adoption fell through. My sister adopted domestically and a few turned out this way before she got her perfect son. He even looks like them and he is 4 now. It will happen for you. Glad your Dad is doing better:) Praying for you on all fronts.

Kim

God has a plan, even if it is hard for us to understand.
Make your scrapbook and pour as much of yourself and your love for your family into it and end with your hopes and dreams for your future family life. I don't think it matters how you make the book, just pray about what to write and what to include. All will work out the way it is suppose to. With love, Kim

If you go to www.itsaboutlove.org you can click on "search adoption profiles" and see what other families have done. Dear Birth-mother letters and scrapbooks are very intimate and personal but usually people view each others first before they get a sense for what they want to say. Digital or homemade is not matters, it is just important that you come from your heart. I am sorry your local adoption didn't work out. That must be very hard on your family. Does this mean you don't plan to adopt internationally anymore? I hope you are united with the child who is destined to be called Lilly Rae soon.

When I began reading I immediately thought of Paula being a great friend and resource through a domestic adoption, glad to see you know her. I pray you find your way to your child. Write from your heart. I know your letter will be perfect if you do. hmmm on the scrapbook. If you could do a book like on snapfish or shutterfly has really good ones, I think I might go that route. Its a tough call, I guess where in lies your talent. I am obviously better at digital than hand made.

I so think you should do the digital one. It will be alot faster, and you can order multiple copies for different agencies if you need them.

How exciting!
